Couples Therapy
Every couple has a dance — the same fight, the same silence, the same distance. Couples therapy helps you see the pattern, understand what drives it, and choose new steps together.
When couples come to therapy
- The same argument keeps happening, just wearing different clothes
- You've become excellent roommates and distant partners
- Trust has been broken — infidelity, secrets, financial betrayal — and you don't know if or how to rebuild
- Big transitions are straining the "us": a new baby, blended families, illness, immigration, career upheaval
- One of you wants closeness, the other wants space, and both of you feel rejected
- You love each other, and you're not sure that's enough anymore
None of this means your relationship is failing. It means the two of you have a pattern — and patterns can change.
How I work with couples
My couples work is grounded in attachment: the science of how we bond, and what we do when that bond feels threatened. Most gridlocked conflict isn't really about dishes or phones or in-laws. Underneath, it's usually a question one or both partners is asking: Are you there for me? Do I matter to you? When that question feels unsafe, we protest (criticism, pursuit) or protect (withdrawal, shutdown) — and each partner's move triggers the other's.
In sessions, we slow that cycle down until you can both see it. The pattern becomes the problem — not your partner. From there, couples learn to say the vulnerable thing underneath the sharp thing, to repair after ruptures, and to rebuild trust deliberately.

Every couple is welcome
I work with married and unmarried partners, 2SLGBTQI+ couples, interracial and intercultural couples, and couples navigating differences in faith, family expectations, or neurodivergence (including ADHD — see ADHD support). As a Black therapist, I bring cultural humility and lived understanding to conversations many couples have never been able to have safely in a therapy room.
Therapy here is a no-blame zone. My job is not to referee or decide who's right — it's to be on the side of the relationship, and of each of you as people.
